These are some of the most commonly asked questions. If you have others, please leave them in the comments below and we will respond as soon as we can.
I see you meet at All Pilgrims Church but how do I get in?
The church is located at 500 Broadway East. This year we are meeting in the downstairs chapel. Enter on the southside of the building on Republican, through the gate on street level.
Is it handicap accessible?
We moved downstairs from the Colonial Room because it has a lot fewer stairs. But there are still a few stairs. So no, it is not technically handicap accessible.
Is there parking?
There is often street parking but you may have to pay for it. If you spend $10 on groceries at QFC you can park in their garage for “free” for the first hour and another $5 for the second hour. If you do a “big” shop (maybe $50+) they’ll give you more validation.
What is the schedule?
6:45-7:25 PM Meditate
7:25 -8:45 PM Dharma talk and group discussion
Are there meditation cushions available on site?
No there are not. There are padded chairs with arms. Occasionally someone brings their own cushion but for the most part folks sit in the chairs provided.
What happened to the chanting?
Some people were interested in learning about chanting. So we used to get together for 30 minutes before the regular sit and practice chanting together using a chant handout. This is not devotional. It is practice. HOWEVER, for the time being we have tabled this practice. If it interests you ask about it and we may reconsider.
And what about snacks?
We used to do a light salad and snack potluck break. But we have decided to try tea-only to simplify and to maximize our time together. Feel free to bring your own snack if you need something to eat.
What’s the cost?
As with all Dharma teaching it is offered freely, so there is no charge. However there is a cost for the space and there’s a basket for dana, donations to support the continuation of sharing the Dharma.
