My first (and best!) experience w renunciation was an exercise Tuere had us do once. What she said was, imaging the thing you want to give up as a cup, and put it down on the table in front of you. Now imagine yourself turning and walking away, and the thing you feel, that’s renunciation. We also did a sangha-wide exercise of NOTICING what comes up whenever we do a habit we’ve noted that we might want to let go of. We weren’t supposed to actually let go of it or make any effort to, just, watch what happens whenever we do it.
The handouts I liked best are here:
My suggestion would be for us each to pick a “reflection” and/or a “Practice” from the first article for this week, and then talk with each other about it on Thursday.
See you then!
